Over 25 years ago Paco Underhill went to work on an idea. He brought the methodologies used by his mentor, the distinguished Urbanist William H. (Holly) Whyte, to study behavior in public spaces into commercial environments. That idea became known as “The Science of Shopping.” What started as a small boutique agency has now become a world-renowned research and consulting firm called Envirosell.We focus on how people, products and spaces interrelate. Our research environments, once rooted in bricks and mortar retail, now span to cover spaces as huge and chaotic as train stations and airports. We’ve worked in libraries, doctor offices, model homes, showrooms, and every kind of food service imaginable. Our clients are merchants, consumer goods manufacturers, banks, trade associations, not for profits, government agencies and the full spectrum of design, advertising and marketing agencies. Want us to look at something new? Cool, we’d like the challenge. We’re problem solvers. Our role as a research and consulting firm is not just to generate information, but to turn that information into tactical applications and reality based strategies. We marry right-brained smarts and left-brained solutions. We continue to pioneer systems to document and analyze human behavior. From software to qualitative and quantitative observation techniques, mapping programs, surveys and videotaping we are industry leaders. Our work has been profiled in both the popular and business press from Smithsonian Magazine and The New Yorker, to Business Week, Fortune and Fast Company. Based in New York City, Envirosell is a privately held company with offices in South America, Mexico, Japan, India, Russia, and Italy. We are answerable to three things: our clients, each other, and the truth. |
